July 5, 2018 (Abbotsford, BC) – At an AbbotsfordFIRST event last Monday night, president Markus Delves announced that Councillor Kelly Chahal will be seeking re-election for the upcoming 2018 municipal election.
“I am pleased to announce my re-election campaign tonight”, said Chahal. “When I first started in municipal politics, having a team was incredibly important to me. I have that team with my AbbotsfordFIRST colleagues and together we can continue the type of positive change it will take for Abbotsford to be the best we can be.
Kelly Chahal’s candidacy was announced by Delves to crowd of fifty supporters.
“I am excited that Kelly is seeking a second term in office” said Delves. “Kelly has played a significant role in the successes at city hall over the past four years and I’m glad she’s committed to continuing this valuable work.”
Councillor Chahal was first elected to Abbotsford city council in 2014. Chahal has been a community advocate for the past 20 years, especially in the areas of education and business. Her past service includes the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Senate as an ex-officio member of the UFV Alumni Board. Kelly currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies and the community Literacy Action Committee. She is the Chair of the Committee for Business Innovation, Growth and Attraction and has a long history of volunteering as a board member with the Fraser Valley Indo Canadian Business Association.
Councillors Sandy Blue, Brenda Falk and Ross Siemens along with city council candidate Dave Sidhu were in attendance.
